Animatronic photo set 1

Since I was essentially making a sculptural version of my illustrations I wanted to simulate a spiritual translucent face over a skeletal face so I got the idea to cast clear silicone and place it over top of a skull resin cast face. Both are hollowed out to set in wires for the jaw movement and head movement wires.

This is the back of the head after I hinged together the skull and the jaw. I originally wanted to purchase the hinges to save myself some time but the shipping would have taken longer than just creating the hinges myself.

Servo attached to Traxxas Turnbuckle Link 49mm

For the Jaw movement I set my servo on the ledge of the top jaw of the top part of the skull, to it I attached a Traxxas Turnbuckle Link 49mm to help push and pull the bottom jaw which is attached by a hinge.

I ran into several problems with this due to the apparent fact that the servo has less ability to move something the further away the object is. To fix this issue I had to angle the head in a way that the servo didn't have to pull up and push down on the jaw but instead pull it in and push it out. There was not a lot of movement from doing this but it was better than nothing.

Soul Catcher Final

Alright as of now I am officially done with this version of my animation. I will certainly come back and update it once my animating and video editing skills improve some.

So this is the final version of my animation for the Gallery show, like the illustrations I definitely want to go back and edit this to create more fluid animations and editing. Up till now I have not had any formal training in animation and have only had a tiny bit of practice doing a few gifs so this was definitely a challenging project for me, but I actually really enjoyed doing it and it definitely encourages me to continue to practice and develop my skills.

Illustrations final

So for my final exhibition I was not able to do the eleven illustrations I was originally planning. The illustrations were originally going to be depictions of the scenes from my cosmology I had written up, however my animation demanded a lot of my attention and took away time from both my illustrations and my Animatronic, so I was forced to widdle my illustrations down to three portraits of my wolf spirit characters. After I was forced to change the quantity of the pictures I could produce it was my plan B to create the three portraits along with one last illustration that was going to be a big collage of smaller illustrations giving a vague summary of my cosmology, however once again my attention was demanded by my animatronic that needed last minute tweaking.

Though the portraits came out beautiful I still wish I had the time to complete the other illustrations, even though my show is over I am still going to work on the pictures I had originally planned on.

This illustration which I was titling "The Triumvirate is born" was suppose to be a scene in one of the cosmology illustrations, now I wish I had just printed it along with the others at least then I would have had four illustrations to display.

These last 3 were sketches of two of my planned illustrations, the first one features the creator of the universe befriending the planet eating beast, and the second illustration was suppose to depict the planet eating beast being created.
